If there is one place that history enthusiasts should not miss, it is this one! The Afyonkarahisar Museum is among the richest in Türkiye, showcasing thousands of years of stories embedded in stone, soil, and metal. Every corner reveals step by step how these lands became a cradle of civilization.
As you step inside, you are greeted by a grand panorama of history – from the Phrygians to the Lydians, from the Romans to the Ottomans. Everything, from glass artifacts and coins to sarcophagi and stone reliefs, is carefully displayed. Wandering through the museum’s spacious and bright halls feels like embarking on a time journey.

Historical Information
The museum journey in Afyonkarahisar began in 1931 at the Taş Medrese. It was one of the first museums affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. After moving in 1971 to its building on the Konya road, it gained a fresh breath of life with its modern new building, opened in 2023.
Equipped with today’s technology, the new building offers world-class infrastructure in terms of both exhibition techniques and preservation of artifacts. The museum’s archaeological collection is a key reference point not only for Afyon but also for the entire Central Anatolia region.
