Çorum Museum
Çorum Museum

From Hittite tablets to Roman sarcophagi – this museum feels like a chronological summary of Anatolian history.
The Çorum Museum houses one of Turkey’s richest archaeological collections, featuring unique artifacts from major excavations such as Alacahöyük, Boğazköy-Hattusha, and Ortaköy-Şapinuva.
Bronze spearheads, sun disks, terracotta figurines, cuneiform tablets, and impressive statues together offer history enthusiasts a simple yet profound journey through time.
Originally founded in 1968, the museum was relocated and redesigned in 2003 in its modern building.
At its core lies the Hittite Empire collection, including remarkable pieces such as the Hittite God Statue, the Royal Tomb artifacts of Alacahöyük, and the Boğazköy cuneiform archives.
The ethnography section presents manuscripts, weapons, garments, and household items from the Ottoman and early Republican periods.
Viofun’s Suggestion:
Spend a few minutes in front of the Hittite God statue — look at it at eye level.
Thousands of years ago, someone may have prayed to it in the very same way.
Then visit the ethnography hall to explore not only ancient history but also the living memory of Anatolia.
