Ephesus Museum
Whatever amazed you while walking the streets of Ephesus, the true details are hidden here… The Ephesus Museum, located in the Selçuk district of İzmir, is one of the region’s most important archaeological museums, showcasing artifacts unearthed during excavations in the ancient city of Ephesus. With statues, reliefs, votive steles, glass works, and the legendary statues of Artemis, the collection draws attention with its artistic and religious symbols.
The museum was founded in 1929 and moved to its current modern building in 1964. Its collection includes artifacts from various parts of Ephesus such as the Celsus Library, the Temple of Artemis, the Terrace Houses, the Stoa, and the Theatre. Among the most notable pieces are two Artemis statues from different periods, gladiator reliefs, Roman emperor portraits, and objects from ancient daily life. The museum also features special sections related to the religious structures of Ephesus.
