Historical Information
Built in 1856 by Sultan Abdülmecid, Dolmabahçe Palace is one of the strongest symbols of the Ottoman Empire’s Westernization period. Comprising 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 baths, and 68 toilets, this enormous structure also holds a special place in the history of the Turkish Republic as the room where Atatürk passed away in 1938.
