Konuralp Museum

After walking on the stones of ancient Prusias ad Hypium, this museum reveals what those stones have to tell…
Located in the town of Konuralp in Düzce, the Konuralp Museum is an important cultural stop that sheds light on the ancient history of the Western Black Sea region through artifacts unearthed from local excavations.
With sarcophagi, marble statues, glassware, coins, and grave steles, the museum offers fascinating insights into daily life during the Roman and Byzantine periods.
The museum was opened to visitors in 1977 and built its collection primarily from the excavations of Prusias ad Hypium, the most significant ancient city in and around Düzce.
Theater reliefs, figurines, and votive steles provide unique information about urban life and religious practices, especially during the Roman era.
In addition, the museum garden features an open-air exhibition area where massive columns and architectural fragments are displayed.
Before visiting the museum, take a walk through the nearby Konuralp Ancient Theater, then stop by the museum to uncover the historical stories behind the stones you’ve just seen.
We especially recommend spending some time at the coin displays — each coin bears the mark of an era.
