Konya Çatalhöyük
Konya Çatalhöyük

The footsteps of civilization began here…
Located in the Çumra district of Konya, Çatalhöyük is one of the oldest and largest known Neolithic settlements in the world.
Dating back to around 9000 BC, Çatalhöyük vividly illustrates the transition from hunter-gatherer communities to agricultural society.
Homes were entered through their roofs, and walls were adorned with painted sacred figures.
Today, this remarkable site can be explored under a modern protective structure, offering an authentic archaeological experience.
Discovered in 1958 by James Mellaart, Çatalhöyük has attracted the attention of archaeologists from across the globe.
Excavations have revealed wall paintings, figurines, burial structures, household objects, and animal sculptures that shed light on social life, beliefs, and domestic organization during the Neolithic period.
In 2012, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, recognized for its immense archaeological and cultural significance.
