Marmaris Museum (Muğla)
Marmaris Museum (Muğla)

Imagine a castle where you can smell both history and the sea…
The Marmaris Museum is located inside the Marmaris Castle, overlooking the harbor in the district of Marmaris, Muğla.
Artifacts reflecting the history of the region dating back to 3000 BC are displayed, including finds from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods.
Blending the spirit of the castle with history, this museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the cultural face of Marmaris.
The castle was originally built around 1044 BC and was expanded to its current form by Suleiman the Magnificent during the Rhodes Campaign of 1522.
It was converted into a museum and opened to the public in 1991.
The archaeology section exhibits ceramics, glass artifacts, amphorae, ornaments, and inscriptions found in and around Marmaris,
while the ethnography section displays traditional items, weapons, and costumes.
