Pamukkale Archaeological Site and Ruins

Just above the travertines rises an ancient city…
The Hierapolis Archaeological Site, located at the summit of the Pamukkale travertines, is an ancient city that enchants visitors with both its natural and historical wonders.
With its magnificent Roman theater, the sacred Antique Pool, vast necropolis, baths, agora, and temple ruins, Hierapolis is not merely an archaeological site but a living history intertwined with nature.
Founded in the 2nd century BC by the Kingdom of Pergamon, Hierapolis became a major thermal healing and spiritual center during the Roman era.
It also gained religious significance due to its sanctuaries dedicated to the god Apollo and the martyrdom of St. Philip, an important figure for Christianity.
In 1988, together with Pamukkale, Hierapolis was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and ongoing excavations continue to reveal the secrets of the past to visitors today.
When you reach the ancient theater, climb all the way to the top rows.
As you look back, the view you see will not just be a city—it will be a masterpiece that has flowed through time into the present.
After your visit, take a short swim in the Antique Pool and literally immerse yourself in history.
