Entrance Ticket for the Rumi Sema Ceremony

The event begins every day at 8:00 PM and lasts for 1 hour.
The “Mevlevi Rites Ensemble” within the Center for Research on the Civilization of Wisdom (İRFA) performs the Sema ceremony. Sema literally means “to hear” or “to feel.” In Mevlevi literature, Sema is a voluntary act of worship performed by turning from right to left around the heart in harmony with rhythm and music. The aim and purpose of Sema, the symbolic remembrance (dhikr) of the Mevlevi tradition, is to ascend spiritually and to progress on the path of Allah (cc).
During the time of Mevlana, Sema was performed as a form of religious and mystical ecstasy without a set structure. It is said that the Master (Hz. Pir) began to formalize the practice of Sema after meeting Shams of Tabriz.
The semahane located in the Center for Research on the Civilization of Wisdom (İRFA) attracts visitors with its neoclassical architecture inspired by Mevlevi lodges from various regions of Turkey and around the world.
