Zeugma Mosaic Museum

Can a single glance pull you back thousands of years?
The Gypsy Girl of Zeugma manages to do just that…
The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, located in Gaziantep, is one of the largest and most significant mosaic museums in both Turkey and the world.
Its immense mosaics, beautifully illuminated with light effects, depict mythological scenes, gods, heroes, and daily life in dazzling detail.
The museum also features bronze statues, column capitals, frescoes, and marble sculptures.
The artifacts were unearthed from the ancient city of Zeugma, near Nizip District in Gaziantep.
Founded around 300 BCE by Seleucus I Nicator, a general of Alexander the Great, the city became a major trading and cultural center during the Roman period.
In the early 2000s, rescue excavations were carried out before the Birecik Dam flooded the area, bringing to light the world-famous Gypsy Girl mosaic and many other masterpieces.
The museum opened to visitors in 2011.
When you enter the dark gallery where the Gypsy Girl mosaic is displayed, pause for a moment and just look.
Her mysterious gaze feels like a silent invitation to travel through time.
After your visit, explore the Gaziantep Archaeology Museum and the Turkish Bath Museum to complete a day full of culture and history.
