Basilica Cistern
Fatih
Located in the heart of Istanbul, Fatih is like an open-air museum with its history-filled streets, monumental structures, and cultural heritage. With landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, and the Basilica Cistern, it is the first stop for both local and international tourists. In this district, where every step traces the marks of the past, visitors are promised both a journey of exploration and a spiritual experience.
Located in the heart of Istanbul’s Historic Peninsula, the Basilica Cistern is easily accessible by public transportation:
Tram: Take the T1 line (Bağcılar – Kabataş) and get off at Sultanahmet Station. From there, it's a short 2–3-minute walk to the cistern.
Bus: You can reach Sultanahmet from Eminönü or Beyazıt via buses TB2, 28T, or 81.
Metro: Take the M2 metro line (Yenikapı – Hacıosman) and get off at Vezneciler Station. Then transfer to the T1 tram line to reach Sultanahmet.
Marmaray: Get off at Sirkeci Station, and walk approximately 15 minutes to the cistern.
If you plan to come by car, you can use İSPARK parking lots located around Sultanahmet Square. However, due to high traffic in the area, using public transportation is strongly recommended.
